Red Flags by Age

By 3 months

  • • Poor eye contact or doesn't watch faces
  • • Doesn't smile at people
  • • Doesn't respond to loud noises
  • • Difficulty feeding or doesn't suck well

By 6 months

  • • Doesn't try to reach for toys
  • • Doesn't bring hands to mouth
  • • Stiff muscles or floppy body
  • • Doesn't roll over in either direction
  • • Doesn't babble or make sounds

By 12 months

  • • Not sitting without help
  • • Doesn't crawl or drags one side
  • • Doesn't point to things or wave bye-bye
  • • Doesn't respond to name
  • • No babbling or attempts at words

By 24 months

  • • Doesn't walk independently
  • • Doesn't speak at least 15 words
